I started this blog last summer because I found myself using my Facebook page for commentaries and other discussions. Not only that, a lot of my friends come to me for information about a variety of things because I keep up to date with current events and I am always in the streets (don’t tell my Dad though cause he thinks I shouldn’t be out and about all the time)…LOL! I started off full blast, but when I changed positions at work my energy faded. I was posting daily, then it dwindled to a couple times a week. Then my Dad got sick and I went weeks without posting. I told myself that I would get better and try to post more often, but I haven’t kept to that commitment.
Not only did my energy fade, but I expected my blog to BLOW UP cause people seemed interested in what I talked about on Facebook. I thought that same interest would follow to my blog and I would get some type of support. NOT!!!! That shole didn’t happen, which was disappointing. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because I have a lot of people in my life that are in business for themselves and most of their support comes from strangers; that is so disheartening that your friends and family are the last to jump on the support wagon.
To try and promote my blog more, I’ve joined a few Blogging sites/groups to get some tips and advise on how to grow. It’s been great seeing other peoples blogs and learning hearing their stories. I don’t know if it’s because I am 42 (I know I don’t look it right) or because I will be at my job 20 years next month, but I feel that I am not investing in my true passion. I don’t want to go thru life thinking ‘what if’.
Even if I fail, I can say I tried. So with all that being said, if there is something that you are passionate about don’t think that you’re too old to do it. Research, join groups, go to seminars, do whatever you gotta do to get it started. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t blow up as fast as you think, you never know who’s watching and willing to help you succeed. Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s a waste or that you shouldn’t do it. Have confidence in yourself and DO YOU!!!
